Course Description
This course provides a detailed account of ice installation and maintenance practices. The practical work of this course will focus on ice installation. Ice maintenance will be discussed more in the classroom portion of the course. Several complementary topics are discussed, as well, to provide participants with a well-rounded knowledge of arena industry practices. All the aspects discussed are related to the successful and safe operation of an arena facility. Furthermore, this course will discuss and share best practices with the registrants.

Topics covered along with class participation include:
• Principles of Ice Making
• Air Quality
• Dasher Board Systems
• Principles of Ice Making – Ice Maintenance and Quality Control
• Ice Resurfacer – Maintenance & Operation
This course is designed for Arena workers and supervisors who require a better understanding of ice maintenance, science of ice and industry best practices. The course is designed to provide a balance of classroom instruction and hands-on practice.
This is a 2-day course. Course starts at approximately 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. on consecutive days.
Registrants will receive an Arena Operators Level 1 binder of the topics covered in the course.
Meals and Accommodations
Meals are not included in the registration fee.
It is the responsibility of the registrant to arrange and pay for accommodations.
Health & Safety
Proper steel toe footwear, ice cleats and clothing is required, as we will be on the ice surface for extended periods performing tasks related to ice installation/maintenance.
