Pathways is an ongoing series of accessible and inclusive opportunities dedicated to growing understanding and awareness of Indigenous culture and wellbeing, and strengthening the relationships between Indigenous and Settler Canadians. This series is our contribution to a broader conversation about truth and reconciliation in Canada, and is opportunity for growth and discovery. We do not walk this path alone, nor do we know where it will lead us. We encourage you to join us.
We invite you to join Saskatchewan Parks and Recreation Association for this free 1-hour online event, hosted by Joel Pedersen (Owner, 2J2 Fitness). In this session, Joel will share his experience as an Indigenous leader and entrepreneur and provide attendees with tips on how to engage and empower Indigenous participants through fitness and healthy lifestyle programs.
We are proud to share this opportunity in the spirit of truth and reconciliation and in an effort to support the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s 89th Call to Action.
#89. "We call upon the federal government to amend the Physical Activity and Sport Act to support reconciliation by ensuring that policies to promote physical activity as a fundamental element of health and well-being, reduce barriers to sports participation, increase the pursuit of excellence in sport, and build capacity in the Canadian sport system, are inclusive of Aboriginal peoples."
