Saskatchewan Polytechnic has recently revamped its Recreation and Tourism Management (RTM) diploma program. As part of the re-imagined program, first year students have the opportunity to gain industry experience through a mentorship. In September the first-year students will outline a few areas of interest and will begin selecting a recreation or tourism mentorship placement.
The mentorship assignment is a 10 hour commitment from October to December 2021. The 10-hour pledge can be a combination of virtual, in-person, one on one and/or industry related networking opportunities. This will be decided on between the mentor and the student.
We are looking for individuals that are passionate about the parks and recreation industry and want to help develop future leaders to continue this great work in our province. If you are willing to be a mentor and/or want more information please contact Stephanie Cross, SaskPolytech at firstname.lastname@example.org or 306-659-4163 or Kerry Bailey, SPRA at email@example.com or 306-831-6671.
“A mentor is not someone who walks ahead of us and tells us how they did it. A mentor is someone who walks alongside us to guide us on what we can do.”
