SPRA is aware of the ongoing concerns within our communities regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19). We are committed to helping our members take the necessary steps to prevent the spread of this virus in the public spaces within their care and responsibility.
At this time there is only one presumptive case of the virus in Saskatchewan, and the Public Health Agency of Canada has stated there is a low public health risk for the general population in our province. However, we urge our members to follow the recommendations of the Public Health Agency of Canada and the Government of Saskatchewan, and be fully prepared for how it can impact their events, programs and facilities. We ask our members to refer to these recommendations and check the websites listed below regularly, since the guidance currently offered will be updated as new information becomes available.
We recognize that every community's response to this outbreak will be different. Given the important role our members play in creating active, engaged communities, it is imperative that you work with local public health officials to review your community's emergency plans and follow the provincial and national recommendations. Practicing routine environmental cleaning and disinfection strategies is also encouraged.
SPRA is closely monitoring this emerging public health issue and will continue to be in contact with our members as it develops.
