Location: Martensville Recreation Centre
Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused individual to join our team as an Arena Operator. As an Operator, you will play a key role in providing exceptional service to our customers and ensuring the safe operation of the facility. This position requires an operations aptitude as well as strong customer service skills, and the ability to learn the operation of an ice resurfacer.
Duties:
- In the absence of the General Manager and Operations Manager, give work direction to all staff on duty, and responsible for the safety of all.
- Implementing, maintaining and enforcing Nustadia's Best Practices and Policies
- Liaison with tenants, the users of the facility and the public with respect to operational issues of the facility.
- Training and supervising part-time operations staff to ensure safe operation of the facility
- Complete arena maintenance inspections and record in maintenance/inspection logbooks
- Monitor refrigeration plant and record readings
- Perform daily ice maintenance functions, and operation of Ice Resurfacer and Ice Edger, always maintaining a safe ice surface thickness
- Ice installation and removal
- Custodial duties in all areas of the facility
- Troubleshoot/call contractors as required
- Complete general repairs to facility/equipment
- Ensuring all exits/entrances are kept clear of debris and snow and the facility is kept neat and clean and tidy
- Work on days, evenings, weekends and holidays as required by the needs of the facility
- Special event setup and teardown
- Carry out other duties and activities as may be required from time to time in meeting the requirements of the position
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Past Operations experience is an asset.
- Refrigeration/systems/trades experience is an asset
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License
- Valid Criminal Record Check
- Level I Arena Operator Certification (preferred not necessary)
- Level II Arena Operator Certification (preferred not necessary)
- WHIMS Certification (preferred)
- First Aid/CPR AED Certification (preferred)
- H2S Alive Certification (preferred)
- Current experience in the cleaning and upkeep of a recreation facility with ice
- Attention to detail is a necessity
- Self-starting attitude and the ability to make decisions
- Proven experience solving problems with an exceptional service approach
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
