The Town of Fort Qu’Appelle is accepting applications for the position of Parks and Recreation Manager. This is a new position. You will also work in conjunction with the Public Works Foreman and be part of the management team. The Town of Fort Qu’Appelle is in the heart of the beautiful Qu’Appelle Valley. It is also home to the governance centre of Treaty 4. Treaty 4 celebrated the 150th Annual gathering in 2024 and attracted over 10,000 people from Manitoba and Saskatchewan.
This is a year-round position with the Prairie Coop Rexentre being the centre piece in the winter months. Fort Qu’Appelle is also home to the Fort Knox Junior B hockey club. The rink has undergone extensive renovations in the last several years. In 2022 the facility was designated as an evacuation center and upgraded as such. This included the upgrade of all electrical and mechanical systems as well as 2 make air units were installed to facilitate fresh air intake. In 2024 new boards were installed by Omnisport. The kitchen was renovated and can now operate as a commercial kitchen. Further renovations are on going.
In addition, this position is responsible for the operation of the Town’s 80-unit campground, ball diamonds plus maintaining the parks and green spaces within the Town. The Town has a very active Communities in Bloom group who plant, maintain the many flower beds and planters.
The applicant must have the following
- Minimum 5 years experience with a Level 2 arena operator certification.
- Motivated to improve the quality of the rink and rink environment.
- Familiar with all aspects of running a busy facility.
- All scheduling related to the rink and ball diamonds.
- Familiar with all aspects of mowers and maintenance.
- Ball diamond maintenance
- Sprinkler operation and maintenance.
